Dr. Joseph D'Amico, PhD, CRNA
Founder and President
Joe the founder of P.A.S.E.P. graduated from Nursing School at Community Medical Center and Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While obtaining his certification in Critical Care Nursing at Lehigh Valley Hospital's Shock Trauma Unit, Joe sat on various committees, designed and implemented educational and support group programs and was the acting Director of Education and Clinical Coordinator for the Department of Anesthesia. By 1991 Joe had received his C.R.N.A. from Reading Hospital and Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia and in 1994 and completed his Masters Degree in Health Administration from St. Joseph's University. In May of 2000 he graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a PhD. in Education and Administration from La Salle University. After forming P.A.S.E.P. in 2000. Joe has continued to be very active in education as an educator at Lehigh Carbon Community College. Joe currently is the President of the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He has been a consultant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and C.M.S. and currently sits on a Practice Committee with H.G.S.A. Joe has gained a wide range of expertise in licensing, credentialing, and developing anesthesia departments for both Office-Based and Ambulatory Surgical Facilities.
Donald Connell, MS CRNA
Vice President
Don has had a most distinguished career in Nurse Anesthesia. His career started with a BS in Business Administration from St. Francis College Loretto, Pa. in 1971, prior to entering Nursing school. After receiving his nursing diploma from St Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, in 1973, he attended The Reading Hospitals School of Nurse Anesthesia until 1976. After 17 years of practice he entered school again, and completed his Masters Degree in Anesthesia and Health Administration at St Joseph's University in 1993. After patenting a unique airway device, the Connell Airway, he has remained a consultant for Mallincrodt Medical and Nellcor Medical Products.
Seamus Cunningham, CRNA
Vice President
Seamus became a registered nurse in 1986 after earning an associates degree from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hahnemann University with a BSN in 1990 and was offered a membership in Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. In 1993 he graduated from Lankenau Hospitals School of Nurse Anesthesia.
John Kresge, MS CRNA
Vice President
John received his BS in Nursing from Kutztown University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and offered a membership in Phi Kappa Phi in 1994. He followed with his Nurse Anesthesia training at the Lankenau Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia in 1997, and completed his Masters level education from St Joseph's University the same year.
Michael Loomis, MS, CRNA
Vice President, and CIO
Mike spent 4 years at the Pennsylvania State University graduating with a BA in General Arts and Sciences. He completed his Nursing education in 1982, at Thomas Jefferson University, and then defended his thesis for Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesiology in 1986 at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He was the first recipient of the Herschel Bradshaw award from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, for his research on "Inhibition of Halothane Induced Hepatotonecrosis By Vitamin E in the Rat". His expertise extends to web data management and programming, and after he spent 6 years on the Board of Trustees of the P.A.N.A. he has been the webmaster for the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists since 2001.
Dr. Leonard Bandala MD
Vice President
After Len graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, in 1984, he went on to complete his Internship and Residency in Anesthesia at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was Chief Resident his final year. While at Northwestern he completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine and was in academic practice for several years before joining Easton Hospital in Easton, PA. At Easton Hospital, he served as President of the Medical Staff, 2002-2004, Director of Anesthesia and served on numerous committees. Len is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds a Certificate of Special Qualifications in Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Stephen Zarrelli MD
Vice President
Steve has joined us after being the Chief for the Department of Anesthesia, Easton Hospital. Steve's practice includes all specialty areas of medicine, including Ambulatory Surgery. A graduate of The University of Scranton, B.S. in Biology 1987, Steve continued his medical education at Temple University School of Medicine graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1991. 1991-1992 Transitional Internship at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, and 1992-1995 Postdoctotoral Training at The John Hopkins Hospital in Anesthesiology Residency that included an Advanced Clinical Track with rotations in Vascular/Thoracic, Cardiac, Pediatrics, Ambulatory, Advanced Airway Management, Regional and Chronic Pain Management. Steve has received multiple Honors and Awards that range from Cancer Research, to Pre-medical and Honor Medical Societies. He currently maintains membership in The Pennsylvania Medical Society, American Society of Anesthesiology, International Anesthesia Research Society and Northhampton County Medical Society.
